Coding Basics - Variables

Basic

If you’ve never gone near any type of programming before it may seem a bit intimidating. But in this series we’re breaking down all the fundamentals of coding to give you a better understanding of what makes everything tick.

In this episode we look at variables. Like algebra, variables are letters that represent a particular value. They can equal any of the common data types we spoke about in the last video, and as we continue to explore programming, variables will constantly be utilised in most of our code and functions.

We also briefly look at why in programming we use a semicolon to end any programming statement.

In this series the basis of our examples are off two different programming languages, PHP and Javascript, but the principles can often apply to any other programming language.
